John Peake retired from the South Australia Police in 2008 after 33½ years service the last 7 years within training and education roles including OC Detective training and OC Centre for Leader Development.

His service included 15 years in criminal investigation at operative and relieving management levels, including the Major Crime Investigation Branch and other specialist roles. He represented SAPOL in the professionalisation of Australasian policing through the auspices of the APPSC and as part of a research team he successfully proposed the introduction of a Degree in Policing.

He holds a Master of Education, Master of Public Policy and Administration and a Graduate Diploma of Executive Leadership. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Policing.

Following ‘retirement’ he provides consultancy services and is also a ‘policing consultant’ with TAFE SA Justice and Policing Studies.
